Sunday Night Worship

We meet on Sunday nights at 5pm for corporate worship. Our regular service is the Holy Communion Office from the Book of Common Prayer and lasts about 90 minutes. However, one Sunday night a month we have a shorter Evening Prayer Service followed by a shared meal together.

We believe that God created us to worship Him: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is the fiber of our souls to do so. Sunday nights are the time when the whole body gathers together for corporate worship. When we worship Him together here on earth, we join in with the worship of God that is going on eternally in heaven around the throne (Revelation 4 & 5). We enter into God’s presence, where He meets with us, receives our praise, and fulfills our soul’s longings.

At St. George’s we believe worship is participatory, not a spectator sport. We use an ancient liturgy from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer (1662) that is rendered in modern English. Liturgy means “work of the people.” In the liturgy, we all have a part to do. This includes prayers we say together, and physical actions like standing, sitting and kneeling.

We sing centuries old hymns and current day praise songs. The centerpieces of our worship are the proclamation of Jesus Christ in the Word and the celebration of Jesus’ sacrifice at the Table. This is why we call our worship “Ancient-Future.” We have one foot in the past, walking in the footsteps of the saints who have gone before us, and one foot in the present, walking into the future with our God.

This is a spectacular web sight, I will recommend to all that I can. Well done Shane. Although I have never been a Marine, semper fi illustrates what value each of us need to be Christians, to be always faithful as our Lord is to us.
