DESCRIPTION:This Sunday is Pentecost\, or as the old prayerbook calls it\, 
 WhitSunday. WhitSunday as in "white Sunday" because Pentecost is one of th
 e main days for baptisms and those being baptized wear white. It is Pentec
 ost because on this ancient Israelite feast day is when God sent the Holy 
 Spirit to the Apostles and all those gathered in the upper room and Peter 
 preached the first great sermon of the Church.\n\nIn our Psalter Sermon Se
 ries\, Pastor Shane will be preaching from Psalm 50 .\n\nThe Collect for P
 entecost Sunday.\nAlmighty God\, who taught the hearts of your faithful pe
 ople by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit\, grant that by the 
 same Spirit we may judge everything rightly and always rejoice in his holy
  protection through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour\, who lives and
  reigns with you and the Holy Spirit\, one God\, now and for ever. Amen.\n
