Sunday Worship: The 1st Sunday in Advent
Today begins the Church Year with the Season of Advent. Advent is a season of waiting, expecting, hoping with a special focus on the 2nd Coming of Christ and also leads us into Christmas. Pastor Shane will be preaching from Malachi 2:10-16.
As is it the first Sunday of month, we will be using Morning Prayer for our main liturgy and also praying the Great Litany.
To prepare for worship, read the Collect and Scripture lessons.
The Collect for the 1st Sunday in Advent.
Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness and to put on the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which your Son Jesus Christ came to us in great humility so that on the last day, when he will come again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal, through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
