This Sunday begins what on the older Church Calendar is the Pre-Lenten Season as we prepare ourselves for the great Lenten fast. The Sunday has traditionally been called “Septuagesima,” which means 70, as in 70 days until Easter.

Pastor Scott will be preaching from Psalm 8.

The Collect and Lesson for the Septuagesima.
Lord, hear with favour the prayers of your people so that we, who deserve to be punished for our offences, may mercifully be delivered by your goodness, for the glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Psalm: 8
OT: Genesis 1:1-2:3
Epistle: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Gospel: Matthew 20:1-16

LD3  Q6. Did God create people so wicked and perverse?
A. No. God created them good1 and in his own image, that is, in true righteousness and holiness, so that they might truly know God their creator, love him with all their heart, and live with God in eternal happiness, to praise and glorify him.
