We are in the short 10 day season of Ascension Tide that follows Easter and prepares us for Pentecost. In this time we celebrate the ascension of Jesus to heaven where He is now seated in glory at His Father’s side. And we wait for the sending of the Spirit. This is the time when the Apostles and all the rest of Jesus’ followers waited in the upper room for the fulfillment of His promise that He would not leave them alone. During this time they also chose Matthias to replace Judas as the 12th Apostle.

In our Psalter sermon series, Pastor Shane will be preaching from Psalm 49.

The Collect for The Sunday after Ascension Day.
O God, the King of glory, who exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven, do not leave us desolate, but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen and exalt us to the place where our Saviour Christ has gone before, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever. Amen.

Psalm: 49
OT: Isaiah 52:1-12
Epistle: 1 Peter 4:7-11
Gospel: John 15:26-16:4

Q24: How are these articles divided?
A: Into three parts: God the Father and our creation; God the Son and our deliverance; and God the Holy Spirit and our sanctification.

Q25: Since there is only one divine being, why do you speak of three: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
A: Because that is how God has revealed himself in his Word: these three distinct persons are one, true, eternal God.
