In verse 13 of chapter one, the Apostle Peter begins to shift from our identity in Christ to how we should live. Building on everything that God has done for us: given us life in the resurrected Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, and adopting us as His children, what do we do? Peter states that we are to be holy as the Father is holy. Just like in an earthly family, how we behave reflects the family we are raised in, so it is with our heavenly family. The starting place is to believe that God has made us holy in His Son and has given us His Spirit to enable us to live holy lives
