All of chapter 4 has been about suffering. Specifically suffering for Christ. The suffering is the opposition, mocking and hostility we receive from the world for bearing the name of Christ. God uses this suffering to purify us now as we continue to walk in His footsteps. Whatever we suffer in this life as believers is temporary and is nothing compared to those who do not believe and face eternal suffering in the last Judgment.
