2/15/26 Psalm 16 There Ain’t No Grave that Will Hold our Bodies Down
Psalm 16 is one of the most beautiful Psalms in the Bible. Full of words such as “delight, pleasure, joy, good and pleasant.” These words all describe what God is like and what life in Christ is like. Held before us is the promise of true pleasure in God Himself rather than the false pleasure that the world, the flesh and the devil offer us. But the Psalm is a Messianic Psalm about Jesus and the resurrection and ascension. David prophesied that Jesus’ death would not be the end; that the grave had no power over his body. Jesus would rise again and ascend into heaven at His Father’s right hand where there is joy and pleasure evermore. And for believers, who have been united to Christ by the Holy Spirit, we are now mystically there already. We can know that one day, when Jesus returns, He will call forth our own bodies, to be changed into glorified ones like His to a land where joy shall never end.
