Peter was with Jesus at His Last Supper when Jesus gave a New Commandment, “that as I have loved you, you love one another.” Now Peter repeats Jesus’ command for us as he not only tells us to love another, but tells us why we should. This is the purpose for our being born again through the resurrection of Jesus and having had our hearts purified by His blood. We should love another earnestly, genuinely and affectionately.
