These two verses bring to a close the opening part of Peter’s letter. The focus from 1:3-2:10 is all on our identity in Christ as those who have been born again. He brings it to a crescendo of descriptions about how God sees us culminating in the beautiful truth that we are God’s own chosen people. Now we our to praise Him with our lips and in our lives.
