6/01/25 1 Peter 2:22-25 Christ Suffered and Died for Us to Bring Us Home
In these few verses, St. Peter distills the whole message of Isaiah 53, that the Messiah would suffer in our place and for our sins. Peter says four things about Jesus suffering:
1. He suffered and he did not retaliate in kind.
2. He suffered and kept entrusting Himself to God the just Judge.
3. He suffered for our sins and in our place so that we would live righteously.
4. He suffered and has healed us by bringing us home.
Essentially Christ died for us, in our place so that we, who were wandering lost sheep, might be found and brought home to the one who cares for and guards are very souls. Now and forever. Amen.
