One of Pastor Timothy Keller’s famous statements was that we need to daily apply the gospel to our hearts. What does that mean and how do we do that? King David provides an example from for us from 2 Samuel 7. This is one of the most important chapters in the Bible where David is moved in his heart to build a house for God. God instead tells David He is going to build a house for him and his son will reign forever. David’s son is Jesus. David, receiving this word from God, is moved to humility and praise. Likewise, we are to daily sit with the good news of what God has done for us in Christ and be moved to humility and offer ourselves to Him for a life of holiness and service.
