11/19/23 Romans 11:1-10 God has not Rejected His People Israel
Paul ends chapter 10 emphasizing the fact that Israel has rejected God…by rejecting Jesus as the Messiah. The question Paul then asks, “has God then rejected Israel.” The answer is a loud “no.” The proof Paul gives is first of all himself. He is an Israelite, who rejected Jesus as the Messiah, and yet, God clearly did not reject him, but rather rescued him out of God’s grace alone. He then uses the 7000 believing Israelites in Elijah’s day to show that God always has had, and currently still does have, a chosen remnant of true Israelites within ethnic Israel. This chosen remnant, along with ethnic Gentiles, are the ongoing, one new man of the Church.
