12/3/22 Romans 3:1-8: God’s Faithfulness Even in our Unrighteousness
As Paul continues his argument against any notion of self-righteousness, he takes time to reflect upon the trustworthiness and faithfulness of God. He invites us to rest upon the faithfulness of God and see the goodness and righteousness of God throughout history. He reflects upon God’s favor to the Jewish people and his choice of them, as he answers Jewish objections to the Gospel. He affirms that the faithlessness of the Jewish people served to display the faithfulness and goodness of God. He denies the claim that we ought to be more unrighteous so that God’s righteousness may be displayed, as some critics had accused Paul of teaching.
