9/27/26 – Psalm 110 Jesus our King and Priest
Psalm 110 is a pure Messianic Psalm written by David about his future Son, whom he calls his Lord. What David says is that one day, the Messiah will be both King and Priest. In his time, these two offices were separate and distinct. Kings ruled God’s people and were meant to do so with mercy and justice as God Himself does. And we need and long for this kind of reign on earth. Priests bring people to God. And we need and long for that too because God created us to be with Him, in His presence, knowing His love and worshipping Him. Jesus is the Son of David who is the perfect High Priest who brings us to God by the means of His own blood. The sacrifice He offers is not a lamb or a goat, but His own life on the cross. As we receive this by faith, we are brought near and now offer ourselves for His service.
