We all fear. What do you fear? And what do you do with your fears? King David genuinely feared for his life numerous time from his father-in-law Saul, his own son Absalom, and even his own men. They all wanted to kill him at different times. What did he do that helps point the way for us? He strengthened himself in the Lord. He did this by stating who God is and what He has done. And he also renewed his single-minded devotedness to be with God and with His people now and forever above all things. While neither David or none of us lived out this devotion perfectly, there is one who did: Jesus. Out of his single-minded devotion to God His Father, He went to the cross and rose again being victorious over our enemy: death. Those now in Christ by faith have nothing to fear anymore.
