In Chapters 6 & 7 Paul has told us over and over that we have been set free from sin, both the penalty and power, but not from the presence of sin. This leaves a great struggle in every Christian: how do we live righteously? Here in the opening verses of Romans 8 Paul is clear that it is not by our own power, but by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit as we walk in step with His leading in our day to day lives.
