As Christians, our lives are often marked by suffering. Our society tries to tell us that the solution to suffering is simply positive thinking. The notion that we can manifest happiness is pervasive, yet the message of the Gospel presents to us a much different way of thinking. As we consider Jeremiah, and as we consider Jesus in their respective sufferings, we see God’s faithfulness to His promises. They suffered, but their suffering was used by God for His greater purpose. As Christians, we can suffer with hope, knowing that suffering will one day end because Jesus suffered ultimately on our behalf.
